AT&T has announced upgraded coverage at Marlins Park in Miami and the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

A distributed antenna system (DAS) is now operated at Marlins Park to provide additional wireless coverage and capacity for customers throughout the facility. The company also expanded the DAS at the BankAtlantic Center.

A DAS consists of several strategically placed antennas that distribute wireless coverage throughout heavily trafficked areas to help manage network capacity. A DAS can provide enhanced wireless coverage and increased capacity to customers in indoor or outdoor spaces where limitations, such as terrain, building construction, or crowd density could prevent an optimal wireless experience.

“We want our customers to have a great network experience whatever they’re doing – whether that’s making a call, checking e-mail, downloading apps or surfing the Internet,” said Carlos Blanco, VP and general manager for AT&T mobility and consumer markets in South Florida, in a news release. “We’re committed to our investment in the local wireless network, and providing enhanced wireless coverage at these two key venues is just one way that we’re investing in South Florida.”
